READING : GAME TESTING

So this weeks reading was all about game testing , which is perfect timing since that is the stage we are more or less on right now in our projects.

The first reading 7 Different Types of Game Testing Techniques was a very good one , it was an article which outlined in a very easy to understand way , what game testing is and the different techniques u can use. Some of the techniques i would not have thought about myself, i would have just presumed all it was was just getting someone to play the game , get there feedback and off u go, but no there alot more to it then that. There is functionality testing, combinatorial testing, ad hoc testing, regressing testing and many others . After reading the article i understand now that my knowledge about game testing before this weeks reading task was very limited , but know i have a much better understanding of it and i now know how i will apply these testing techniques when i am testing my game project.

Next up the academic paper Particularities of Software Testing in Game Development from the Perspective of Practitioners, which as always was just an overwhelming amount of information. I tried to read through it all but unfortunately was un able . It was a very in-depth writing about game testing which left me confused at times, but in general it often talked about the same information in the above article, just in a lot more detail. I didn't learn anything new from it really since it was making me more lost then actually helping me understand , but i did take a few things away from it which will hopefully be helpful in my project.

Finally the video
, which was extremely helpful this week , it was good to see these technqies in practice an learning how to actually apply them to our own game testing . It was nice that he gave his examples of how testing benefited his games , when he did listening to it, and i liked how he also talked about what happened when he chose to ignore the feedback he got from his testing results. The vidoe this week helped my understand of what game testing is and how to actually apply it in a real life testing scenario
