How to Give Bad Feedback Without Being a Jerk

I actually really liked this article , I always wondered what you're supposed to say when you need to give negative feedback, I don't like making people feel bad so I tend to just sugar coat the feedback even if the work is really bad. This article perfectly demonstrates how to give feedback , explain why you giving the feedback is a great start , then asking if they want feedback I think is crucial as there is nothing worse then getting feedback when you never wanted it in the first place. Taking yourself of the pedestal is also another great idea, it puts everybody at a level playing field, as no one likes people who think there better then everybody, the person would never listen to your feedback , they'd probably end up being angry with you and your attitude, but if you make yourself less threatening there more likely to like and listen to the feedback.

The Trouble with Amazing: Giving Praise that Matters

Another good article , I agree with many of the points raised in it. Being told "Amazing" for a task which you don't even find difficult brings you down a little. "Amazing" has no weight to it , it is the go to compliment , you hear it all the time, it has no motivation to some people.  Its a lazy response which doesn't even give you any info on what is amazing , what specifically is so good that you class it as amazing. I know myself , when i get praise that actually has meaning behind it , describing what is good and why that person thinks its good, I get so motivated , a lot more motivated then when someone just says "amazing".
